Jr. High: Summer camps for grades 6-9

Our Jr. High programs give each camper an opportunity for lots of activity action combined with more in depth worship and Bible study. Zipping through the air on our Flying Squirrel and speeding around our go cart track, campers will experience real (not virtual) activity, as well as develop new and deeper friendships in a jam packed day. We start early with some morning chill time and end late in the day with themed night options. The campers will also be challenged by dynamic speakers to get into God's Word and learn the truth of their identity. Jr. High is where we allow campers to choose their own free times and choose their preferred activities.

Jr. High camps are based out of our Ridge Camp. The Ridge offers a more rustic camp experience as campers stay in structures called Tabits. Tabits, commonly known as platform tents, create a more intimate cabin feel where campers really connect with each other and their counselor. There is a modern bath house a short walking distance from the Tabit locations. There are several options to choose from in our Jr. High camp sessions as this is one of our largest camper populations. No matter how you slice it Pine Ridge has what you are looking for.

3 Camp Options to choose from:

Classic Camp:

This camp session allows each camper to experience all of the great activities and games we traditionally offer plus some optional learning Emphasis offerings. Our  Emphasis offerings are optional add-ons that focus in on career and hobby skill-sets. Our goal is to offer unique programs that speak to each camper’s personality and interests. Each Emphasis Pine Ridge offers will include a 1-hour classes taught by an expert in that area. The hour will include educational instruction along with practical application. Check each Emphasis offering below!

Art Emphasis: This Emphasis will explore each campers love of art beyond what is usually offered in the craft shop. The instruction will focus on several projects as time allows. Projects can be taken home by each camper to share with others and remind them of all their hard work.

Culinary Emphasis: This Emphasis will explore the love of food and its preparation. Campers will learn basic knife skills, food safety, nutrition, and work hands on prepping meals. In addition each camper will leave with a customized apron to remember their time and all of their hard work.

Fishing Emphasis: Campers will be taught how to catch “the big one” along with all of the minor details in how to fish. Of course we will fish Pine Lake, but we will also try out some other bodies of water around the Cedar Springs area. Bring your own pole and tackle box or use Pine Ridge equipment. If we catch some keepers, we might even end the week with a special fish fry.

Xtreme Camp:

Would you like to include an in-depth challenging activity into your camp session? Great! Our Jr. High Xtreme Camp is the perfect remedy. This session offers optional, but in-depth, focused activities that can take your week to a whole new level. For an additional fee you get all the classic camp flare with a little kick. Our Xtreme options include Battle Games (Laser Tag & Airsoft), Horsemanship, and Water Sports.

Horsemanship: Campers will be enjoy a daily trail ride, while also deepening their understandings of both horse and rider safety. Daily instruction will focus on emergency equine care, independent saddling and bridling, as well as equitation. Campers will get to choose their horse, take care of it, learn to saddle and ride it throughout the week. All equipment is included, but we do ask campers to bring their own boots/good riding shoes and extra long pants to ride in. No prior riding experience is required.

Battle Games:  Battle Games is a program designed around our laser tag and airsoft activities. Campers in this program will spend 60-90 minutes a day taking classes on situational strategy, tactics, proper game play, and working together as a unit. No prior experience is required to join this program. This program is also a growing program as you age and stay involved any Pine Ridge. Battle Games is offered to both Jr and Sr. High campers.

Water Sports:  Our Water Sports program is for all of our adrenaline hungry, water loving campers. These campers spend their entire 60-90 minute a day session out on beautiful Pine Lake. This program includes tubing, knee boarding, water skiing, and others depending on the boat driver. These sessions include teaching and instruction on each water activity to increase the success of each camper. Campers with prior experience and those who just want to learn are welcome. Space is limited in this program so if you are interested be sure to register early. Equipment is provided for all.

Adventure Camp:

If you are looking for a completely different experience try our Jr. High Adventure Camp on for size. This camp involves a 2 day, 1 night camp out at Ludingon State Park where we will play games on the trail system and enjoy the beautiful sandy beaches of Lake Michigan before coming back to Pine Ridge. This camp calls and caters to the adventuresome soul in all of us. The focus of this camp will be to surround our campers in God's creation and marvel at all He has made. Reminding them that they are His crowning jewel of all they see and that God wants them most of all. On  returning to camp campers will get to enjoy many of our amazing activities and games to make this week one great adventure!
