Kevin Grifhorst

Executive Director

Kevin became the Executive Director in 2002 after serving in varying Camp roles since 1987. Kevin has a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the University of Michigan and a master's degree in Religious Education from Grand Rapids Theological Seminary of Cornerstone University. Kevin is also involved in the West Michigan community by having served on several boards including 14 years as Chairman of the Nelson Township Planning Commission and vice chairman on the board of Keys for Kids. In addition, he serves on the Michigan cabinet of CCCA (Christian Camps and Conference Association), including two terms as President. Kevin also has taught undergrad courses at Cornerstone University. Kevin loves camp ministry, reading, sports, and his family.

Michelle Grifhorst

Director Of Business Operations

Michelle grew up in a loving home in Granger, Indiana with her parents and older sister.  She went to church camp as a child and gave her life to the Lord during the summer that she turned 9 years old.  In 1995, Michelle graduated from Indiana Wesleyan University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.  She went on to further her education by receiving a Master's Degree from Grand Valley State University.  In 1998, Michelle joined the Pine Ridge team as the Oasis Camp Coordinator.  Through a couple years of working at Pine Ridge, Michelle fell in love with the camp ministry and with her eventual husband, Kevin. Kevin and Michelle married in August of 2000.  Michelle soon stepped into the role of overseeing the finances.  Over the years, Michelle continues to manage the Camp's finances, teach chapels for the young children, teach Bible Club at Cedar Springs Public Schools, and oversee the Camp's two main fundraising events (the auction and the golf marathon).  Kevin and Michelle have four children, Jadon, Chloe, Levi, and Ella.

Clayton Baltzer

Director of Ministries

Clayton became the Director of Ministries in March of 2019. Clayton and his wife Rachel have moved to Michigan from the Buckeye state and are expecting their first child in July. Clayton has a bachelor's degree in Camping Ministry and Biblical Studies from Clarks Summit University and is currently enrolled in the master's degree program at Clarks Summit University studying Organizational Leadership. Before coming to Pine Ridge, Clayton served as the Family Life Director at Bible Fellowship Church in Arlington, OH and the Food Service Director at Skyview Ranch in Millersburg, OH. Clayton and Rachel enjoy spending time together playing sports, games, and traveling. Clayton also enjoys video games, preaching and playing music. He can play the tuba, piano and guitar. Rachel was a Kindergarten teacher for four years and enjoys swimming, running and crafts.

Eric WrightEric Wright

Maintenance Director

Eric joined the Pine Ridge team in January 2017 after moving to Michigan from Texas. Eric graduated from Calvary Bible College with a Bachelor of Science in Camp Administration. Before coming to Pine Ridge, Eric spent four years as a financial adviser and seven years as a college basketball coach. He has also owned his own home repair/remodel business. Eric loves youth ministry and has traveled to Europe many times to serve with MCYM (Military Community Youth Ministry). Eric enjoys fishing, watching basketball, traveling and spending time with his wife Bethany and daughter Layla.

Linda MilleringLinda Millering

Administrative Assistant / Camp Registrar

Linda joined the Pine Ridge team in the Spring of 2016.  She is recently retired from Cedar Springs Public School where she served as a program assistant for over 16 years.  She and her husband, Duane, attend Grace Evangelical Free Church in Rockford.  They have enjoyed serving there as leaders in the youth ministry for over 20 years.  She and her husband enjoy spending time outdoors, hobby farming, reading and spending time with family.

Rachel Wellman

Food Service Manager

Rachel has been with Pine Ridge many summers since 2004. She was a Cabin Leader for one summer and has been the cook numerous summers. Her mother Lori was the Secretary at camp for many years before going to meet her Lord and Savior.  During the off season of camp, Rachel is a 1st grade teacher in Grand Rapids Public Schools where she is involved in many of her building's planning committees to better the education of their school. Rachel attended Grace Bible College and Cornerstone University to get her music education and elementary education degrees. She furthered her education through Cornerstone receiving a masters in English as a Second Language. Rachel and her family  (husband Kevin and children Payten and Alex) have always loved Pine Ridge and the sense of family they have here. Rachel attends First Baptist Church of Howard City and enjoy snowmobiling, sports, music and OF COURSE COOKING!!!



Shelly Alvarez

Shelly Alvarez

Summer Program Director

Shelly joined the Pine Ridge team in June 2015 sharing a passion for teaching and learning.  Shelly currently teaches 5th grade at Cedar Springs Public Schools where she’s taught various grades and served in curricular roles as well.  She graduated with her teaching degree from GVSU and furthered her education with masters degrees from WMU in the Art of Teaching and Educational Leadership. The Alvarez family enjoys sports, horses, camping, and anything lively together!  Shelly, Aaron and their four daughters, Gloria, Hope, Sophia, and Gwenyth are actively involved at Grace Evangelical Free Church in Rockford.


Rich Sanderson

Summer Maintenance Staff

Rich joined the Pine Ridge team in the fall of 2014 after working 30 plus years in the printing and packaging industry. Rich lives in the Comstock Park area and is the father of Michael, Gabe, Bethany. and Lydia. He attends West Cannon Baptist Church and has gone on multiple mission trips to Bolivia and India.
